I told you it wouldn ’ thymine be long before I jumped back behind the controls of my demonic shave ice machine. I feel like a freeze huffy scientist ! ! I just had to give you at least one more recipe while the weather cooperates. .. although who knows when things are gon na cool down here in the Bay Area. September and October are typically our hottest months. Ugh. Well, at least I have an excuse to keep experimenting with icy treats !

today ’ sulfur recipe is inspired by my love of coffee + my sexual love of New Orleans. A little homemade cold brew ( although store bought could besides work ) mixed with some roast chicory root syrup for that NOLA coffee bean spirit we all love. Pour over shave frost and top with a drizzle of condense milk. .. mmmagical ! ! But wait, there ’ mho more ! For a bibulous wind, add a splash of St. George NOLA Coffee Liqueur. now, in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “ Let ’ s kick some ice ! ” Sorry, not blue. 🙂

INGREDIENTS

For the shave ice

For the cold brew concentrate

  • 3/4

    cup

    coffee beans

  • 2

    cups

    water

For the chicory syrup

  • 1

    cup

    demerara sugar

  • 1/2

    cup

    water

  • 1/4

    cup

    roasted chicory root

INSTRUCTIONS

For the cold brew concentrate

  1. very coarsely grind the coffee beans. If the grounds are besides fine the coffee will become cloudy. compound water and grounds in a container and varnish. Let exorbitant for at least 12 hours. Strain through a chocolate trickle and store in in a seal container in the refrigerator until quick to use.

For the chicory syrup

  1. Add the carbohydrate and body of water to a saucepan over medium inflame. Bring to a simmer, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
